We have teamed with Amazon Services to make buying quick and easy. Selections from our store and from Amazon.com are available through our site, which is powered by Amazon Services.

When you order from our web site, you will need to use your existing Amazon.com account or create a new Amazon.com account. Your account information will be collected and used by Amazon.com and subject to the Amazon.com Privacy Notice.

In addition, Amazon.com will provide us with your account information, which will be subject to our privacy policy as set forth below.

Security Statement

All online transactions at The Rugged Bear are handled with industry-standard SSL encryption. When you enter your credit card number into the order form, it is transmitted across the Internet in an encrypted (scrambled) form, then decoded when it gets to us. For added security, we also encrypt the credit card number when it is stored on disk, and when we review your order. If you are not the kind of person who worries about being hit by lightning as you're crossing the street, you probably don't have to worry that your credit card number will be intercepted on the way to a secure Web site. According to CNN, "The prevalent opinion...is that on-line credit card use is actually no riskier for consumers than traditional "low-tech" transactions." We order products online all the time, both as a company and as individuals. When we use a credit card to buy something online, we feel at least as safe as we would using one in a store or restaurant.

Privacy Statement

The Rugged Bear is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. We collect information from our users at several different points on our website.

We request information from the user on our order form. Here a user must provide contact information (name and shipping address) and financial information (credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes, to fill customer’s orders, and on rare occasions to notify customers of special online promotions. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user. If you do not wish to receive email notification of special online promotions, let us know and we will take you off our list and take steps to see that you are not emailed in the future.

This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line.

When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just ‘surfing’.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment.

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our site so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
